ColumnStore/Vertipaq Indexes Produce Faster, Better Performance
November 29, 2011 - Charlotte, NC - Wayne Snyder, noted Microsoft SQL Server Expert, Microsoft Most Valued Professional (MVP), and Mariner Distinguished Architect, will host a one-hour webinar entitled Using Column Store/Vertipaq Indexes in Denali on December 9, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. ET
ColumnStore/Vertipaq Indexes, a new, performance-enhancing feature in SQL Server 2012/Denali, is Microsoft's first step into columnar-based storage - a structure predicted to have key uses in data warehousing and other specialty areas in the future. Wayne will give attendees the back story on these improvements and how they can be used to dramatically improve query performance - in some cases, by a factor of 100x faster. Wayne will also share what he has learned from his testing experience with ColumnStore/Vertipag Indexes in a large data warehouse environment.
The webinar will enable attendees to:
- Learn how - and when - to use these new indexes in Denali.
- Create indexes and compare optimizer choices versus standard nonclustered indexes.
- Discuss the pros and cons which come with this new index type.
The webinar will take place Friday, December 9th from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. eastern time and include a Q&A session.
